Who it’s for
You’ve left your corporate job and clients are already asking to work with you. What you need now is the setup: the right license, registered properly, so you can send your first invoice.
You’re still employed and want to take on consulting projects on the side. That’s often possible, as long as your employment contract allows it and the license is in place before your first project.
You coach managers and executives. Business and executive coaching paid by a company usually falls under the consulting license too.
Do you need the consulting license?
In Austria, the title on your website doesn’t decide which license you need. What you actually do does. You need the consulting license if clients hire you to:
- advise them on strategy, organisation, processes, finance, HR, sustainability or digital transformation
- improve how their company works, with analyses, recommendations, workshops for their team or interim management
- affect the company’s structure, internal or external processes
- coach their managers or executives on leadership, teams or how the business runs
You usually don’t need it if you run open trainings anyone can book, share your experience in expert calls, or deliver a defined service such as IT, marketing or design.
How it works
If your degree or experience comes from abroad, the authority assesses it individually. How your evidence is chosen and described matters as much as the evidence itself.
- Free Case Check (20 min): we look at what you want to do and which package fits your case.
- Document review: we go through your diplomas and references and tell you whether you qualify, and for which areas of consulting.
- Your evidence: we work with you on references that show what the authority looks for.
- Supporting statement and submission: we match your experience to the scope of the license, with the relevant case law, and file the application.
- Questions from the authority: we answer them for you.
- Decision: you register the license whenever you’re ready. The decision doesn’t expire.

Packages
- Pay as you go, from €300: document review €300, application with supporting statement €585, support during the assessment €200 per hour.
- Fixed price, €1,500: review, application and up to 10 hours of support.
- Fast Start, €2,500: everything in Fixed price, plus a free trade license with a scope letter so you can start working now, and an appeal if needed.
Fixed price and Fast Start are offered once the review confirms you qualify. Payment is 100% upfront.
